Main Purpose of Job

The main purpose of this job/position is to act as a liaison between the Prince George's County Judicial Court System (to include the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office) and the Maryland State Police College Park / Forestville Barracks. More specifically, this job/position will ensure the accurate and timely exchange of information to make certain criminal and traffic cases brought to the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office by the Maryland State Police are being prosecuted to the highest level of efficiency and effectiveness.

POSITION DUTIES

Provide requested discovery to the Prince George's County State's Attorney's Office regarding all criminal and traffic cases generated by the Maryland State Police in Prince George's County.

Develop and implement a case ledger to track all criminal and jailable traffic court cases generated by the Maryland State Police in Prince George's County. Most importantly. this case ledger will provide the outcome of all cases and a detailed reason for the outcome.

Be responsible for providing the Prince George's County District Court with court date availability for every Trooper that works and conducts enforcement actions in Prince George's County.

Communicate with victims and witnesses of cases being investigated by Maryland State Police in Prince George's County.

Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: One year of experience performing administrative staff, clerical, clerical technical, or secretarial work.

Notes:

1. Candidates may substitute 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university for the required experience.

2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer involving staff work requiring regular use of independent judgment and analysis in applying and interpreting rules and regulations in accordance with agency laws and policies on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with MD Court System/States Attorney Office, along with proven written

and verbal communication with those entities.

2. Experience with Google Applications, specifically Google Sheets and MS Office.

LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

Employees in this classification may be assigned duties, which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator’s license valid in the State of Maryland

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

Candidates may be responsible for providing their own transportationas needed to access meetings, remote locations, and job destinations as assigned.

In accordance withSection 2-204(b)(6) of the Public Safety Article, Candidates for position inthis classification will be subject to an initial drug screening and a completecriminal background investigation before permanent appointment can be made. Acriminal conviction may be grounds for rejection of the candidate.


SELECTION PROCESS

Only candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be considered for this classification. Therefore, it is essential that you provide complete and accurate information on your application. Successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List categorized as BEST QUALIFIED, BETTER QUALIFIED OR QUALIFIED and remain eligible for consideration for at least one year from the date of examination. The list will be used by the hiring manager to select employees.

EXAMINATION PROCESS

The examination will consist of a rating of your education, training and experience related to the requirements of the position. You may be required to complete a qualifications supplement, or the rating may be based on your application. Report all experience and education that is related to this position. Applicants may be given a physical examination and will be subject to an interview, background investigation, polygraph examination and substance abuse testing.

BENEFITS

Contractualemployeeswho work for an agency covered under the State Employeesand Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a currentemployment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hoursper month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage forthemselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will beresponsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescriptioncoverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State ofMaryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. Youcan also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismembermentinsurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premiumfor these benefits.
