This Provolone Grilled Cheese Sandwich recipe is filled with prosciutto, blue cheese, arugula & fig jam for a flavorful, delicious and filling sandwich!

If you missed“National Grilled Cheese Day” last Wednesday, don’t worry, all of April is “National Grilled Cheese Month”! (Yes, thats a real thing!)

This Prosciutto Provolone Fig Grilled Cheese recipe is just what you need to celebrate this month of cheesy deliciousness!

It’s filled with ingredients like blue cheese, fig spread and thinly sliced prosciutto, making it a super flavorful grilled cheese sandwich, that’s also filling enough for lunch or dinner.

It’s sweet, savory and oh-so-delicious!

Ingredients

  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 4 tablespoons butter (softened)
  • 10 ounce jar fig spread
  • 16 slices provolone cheese
  • 16 slices prosciutto (app ½ pound)
  • 4 ounces blue cheese crumbles
  • ½ cup fresh arugula

Instructions

Butter each piece of sourdough bread on one side with about½ tablespoon of butter. On the other side of each piece of bread, spread about 2 tablespoons of fig spread.

On four of the slices of bread, place two slices of provolone cheese, then two slices of prosciutto, a few blue cheese crumbles, a little arugula, then top with two more slices of prosciutto and two slices of provolone.

Sandwich the other pieces of bread on top with the fig spread facing down.

Place in a large skillet or in a panini press for 3-4 minutes per side, or until the cheese is melted and the bread is crispy brown on the outside.

Slice into the prosciutto provolone grilled cheese and dig in!
